Class Import Template
Prepping a class structure for planning
Once you have a class structure in place and agreed upon with your client, it’s time to import that class structure using M1’s Class Import Template.
The Class Import Template can be found as part of the new client setup flow on Retail ORBIT.
The purpose of this template is to make sure that the class structure you send to Management One includes all required information, and that it is presented in a uniform way so as to avoid confusion.
A detailed guide on how to use this template can be viewed and downloaded below.
Using Macros
When you first open the Class Import Template, Excel will alert you to the presence of Macros. You must click “Enable Macros” in order for the file to work.
If you do not see this prompt, or if this is the first time you’ve used an Excel workbook with Macros, you may need to enable them within Excel’s program settings first. See the detailed guide int the pdf attachment below for details.
Going step by step
Once you click the big button that says “Start Wizard,” you will be guided through the necessary steps. These steps will make sure that the data you enter is complete by collecting each of the following, in order:
- Client code
- Location codes and names
- Category names
- Class and child class names, codes, service types, and relationships
Seeing red
The power of this template lies in its ability to spot problems with the class structure data automatically. When you get to the parent and child class mapping screen you may notice that big red error messages appear.
These error messages let you know when:
- A parent or child class is missing a class code
- A parent class is missing a category
- A child class is not marked “Child” under “Service Type”
- A child class is missing its own code or its parent class code
- A parent class has been placed inside another parent class
- A child class has been given a category
If you see an error, it must be corrected before you can save the file and upload the class structure using the Retail ORBIT setup wizard!
Finishing up
Once complete, click the “Create Template” button. You will now see your class structure displayed back on the first tab.
In order to upload your class structure using the setup wizard, you must first save it by clicking the "Save File" button displayed on your screen!
